Calcivet (CalciBoost) (liquid)
A powerful liquid calcium supplement for breeding and growing birds with a long shelf life.
Generally provided 2 to 3 times weekly when not breeding and up to 5 times a week during breeding. Calcivet is usually not given daily unless your vet instructs this.
All birds can benefit from extra calcium in their diet........cuttlefish is not enough especially if your birds are breeding (or even your lone hen is laying infertile eggs)...........remember 23 of the 24 hours of the hen 'making' the egg is making the shell which draws calcium from her gut and bones during all that time............if you do not supplement her calcium the shell can be soft and cannot be passed causing her to become eggbound ........so sad to lose a bird due to something which is so simple to provide.
Calcivet has also been found to be very effective as an emergency product for egg-bound hens due to her lack of calcium.
Calcivet used along with Potent Brew (a powerful pro biotic) has been shown to improve feather plucking in birds.
Application: In water (10-20 mls per litre) or on soft-food 0.1-0.2 mls per 100g bodyweight.
Use the lower doses in hard water areas.
