Parrots are amazing creatures which have bonded with man for many centuries. There are hundreds of varieties commonly called parrots but really they can be separated into various categories. The common denominator with them is that they are all psitticines, ie have hooked beaks and zygodantic feet - two toes facing forward and two facing back, unlike the 'passerines' who have three toes to the front and one to the back.
